I started my Instagram before I even started my blog and business officially, and I'm glad I did. Instagram has helped me launch my business, grow a targeted audience and make money. But it took some work!

Alicia has a wide range of expertise in the pet and social media industries and has leveraged all her skills to become the entrepreneur she is today. From overseeing nonprofits and foundations, building business start-ups to consulting for ad agencies, Alicia's experience is widespread. Alicia started her blog, The DIY Dog Mom, at the end of 2015 as a hobby. The blog started on Instagram where Alicia grew an engaged base for her blog before it's launch. Alicia got very serious about growing her Instagram following to enhance her blog in the spring of 2016. Since then, The DIY Dog Mom has grown into a business as Alicia monetized her blog and its social media channels.
Alicia has been working in the pet industry for over 10 years. She has been an avid social media marketer not only for her blog but advertising agencies, celebrity charities, animal shelters and pet businesses. She obtained her Master's in Organizational Leadership in 2014 which gave her further opportunity to finesse her business and leadership skills.
What makes you an expert on Instagram?
Well, I kinda love Instagram and when you love something and want to see it succeed you will go to many lengths to figure it out. That's what I did! I've been studying and working with Instagram since before I even created my DIY Dog Mom account on it.
I've used and studied Instagram as a social media strategist and consultant for pet business start-ups, celebrity foundations, advertising agencies and more! I found that Instagram has the fastest capabilities to get businesses and brands seen within a matter of minutes of account creation. But it does take time to build a loyal, dedicated base of followers. Dedication, strategy and some time can take your Instagram from hobby to business in no time.
The base I created for myself on Instagram has given my blog and other social media outlets the boost it needed. I went from 0 to over 10,000 followers in less than one year through the hard work, dedication and the strategies I implemented. My very young business began because I did so well on Instagram.
Not every strategy out there in cyberspace worked for me as a dog focused Instagrammer, until I created ones that did.
That's the difference with this course. My focus is on pets specifically. You can read, watch and listen to all the top Instagrammers in the world but guess what? They are not posting about dogs or cats and the pet industry. It is completely different. Sure, some strategies worked for me, and I include those in this course. But most, I had to create on my own - because they work for me to be seen by fellow pet lovers.
